Publicity Stunt Backfires As Karma Comes A Callin'
In the wake of the pissing match between gossip queen Perez Hilton and the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am, celebs have been faced with a major dilemma: Is violence never the answer, or is violence divine retribution when the world's most annoying celebrity blogger, who has probably said something rude about them at one time or the other, is the one getting smacked down?
Perez' mouth wrote a check his face couldn't cash at the Much Music Awards after using a gay slur to insult the BEP frontman. The scuffle between the two broke out after Hilton made scathing comments to Fergie about the group's new album "The E.N.D." Will.I.Am and his manager called Perez out on it, and the manager allegedly hit Perez, resulting in a black eye.
We don't know if you knew this, but if you're a guy, and you go out of your way to provoke another guy in front of his friends and peers by calling him an insulting name, chances are the situation may lead to a fight. Shocking, right?
So far, Perez is definitely not making any new friends in celebrity circles. From the Twitterverse:
Joe Rogan: PerezHilton talking about how he doesn't like drama in his life after he called Will.I.Am a fag and got punched in the head made my day. Watch this, it makes you want to smack him. He talks shit about people for a living and gets upset when karma rolls.
Travis McCoy (Gym Class Heroes): PS. WILL.I.AM- 1, PEREZ-0, It's about fucking time. AAGH, I just watched him get his Chris Crocker on I write drama about other peoples lives,I don't want drama in mine. You got BOOM BOOM POW'D! Violence is not the answer. Trust me, been through it. The fact is, not EVERYONE is going to take being called a vulgar expletive lightly.Frankie Muniz: Perez Hilton, how do you call a man a FAGGOT right in his face and not expect to get hit?
John Mayer: Not true. In fact I'd like to train you in Krav Maga. Then you'll have the situational awareness not to get in someone's face. I also want to train you in an old martial art called Never Call A Black Dude a Faggot Jitsu. This will be the last public mention of it. You know how to find me. Words have cause and effect, even if the effect is wrong.
Even GLAAD has lashed out at Perez, angry that he used the gay slur in the heat of the argument. Perez responded by telling TMZ, "I am saddened GLAAD chose to victimize me further by criticizing me for how I non-violently dealt with a very scary situation that, unfortunately, turned violent."
Yeah, that's exactly what Ghandi would have done.
