The King of Teen Drama Dies in New York
A Hollywood hero, most famous for putting teens on screen, has passed away today at the age of 59. The iconic John Hughes, director and feature film pioneer, died suddenly of a heart attack during a morning stroll through Manhattan.
Known far and wide for his ultra-famous coming of age movies, including Breakfast Club', Ferris Bueller's Day Off', and Sixteen Candles', Hughes captured the hearts of the youth of an era, ushering millions of awkward school nerds, jocky footballers, pretty rich girls and edgy rock kids through some of the toughest years of their lives.
Although light and humour filled for the most part, Hughes' films reached out to an entire generation of young adults and assured them that contrary to how it often may feel, no one is ever as alone as they think.
Although he hadn't cut a reel since 1991, he was an active contributor to the 2008 film 'Drillbit Taylor'.
