We're Not Sure Which Is Worse: Her New Single Or Her New Hairdo
Breakups suck.
Most girls don a pair of grubby sweats and scarf down a pint or two of Ben and Jerry's before indulging in a Lifetime "television for women" marathon of chick flicks starring Tori Spelling.
Singer Rihanna, however, takes wallowing to a new level, releasing Russian Roulette, the first single to be released from her new album Rated R.
The R, if you're wondering, stands for Really Bloody Depressing.
Hey Mr. DJ, play that funky little ditty about Rihanna shooting herself in the chest!
We blame Chris Brown. Of course we do. If it wasn't for his horrific attack on her face earlier this year, then would Rihanna be releasing a song about suicide?
We heard that her original choice for a comeback single was a song called I'm Just A Giddy Gumdrop Girl (My Heart Goes Boing Boing Boing). But we can't change the past Brown did attack Rihanna, hence her comeback single is 100% the opposite of Shiny Happy People.
EW has more on the song: "The midtempo tune opens with a screaming processed-guitar solo that segues into an eerie-sexy bass rumble Soon thereafter comes the big pull-out-the-stops hook: And you can see my heart beating/You can see it through my chest/I'm terrified but I'm not leaving. The music ends dramatically with a single gunshot."
Listen to the tune here.
But perhaps we shouldn't be too surprised by Russian Roulette. After all, Rihanna has never shied away from flirting with dark imagery in the past. Remember Unfaithful, where Rihanna compared the act of infidelity to murder? Or Shut Up And Drive, where Rihanna harrowingly relived the nightmare of being trapped in a taxi with a needlessly chatty driver? Or Umbrella, where Rihanna sang about, um, some umbrellas?
The woman is essentially Marilyn Manson.
