And Then There Was One ...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
This has not been a great year for TV's Southern belles.
Rue McClanahan has joined Bea Arthur and Estelle Getty on the floral lounger in the great lanai in the sky. People reports that Rue passed away after suffering a massive stroke. She was 76.
McClanahan, who played man-happy Blanche Devereaux on the still-popular '80s sitcom Golden Girls, had suffered a minor stroke earlier this year while recovering from bypass surgery. Her rep Barbara Lawrence adds that at the time of her death on Thursday, McClanahan had her family with her. She went in peace.
Betty White, who is the last Golden Girl sitting on the rattan sofa in the living room, said this about the loss of Rue McClanahan, "Rue was a close and dear friend. I treasure our relationship. It hurts more than I ever thought it would, if that's even possible."
This leaves just Kim Cattrall as the last actress to successfully play the role of slutty septuagenarian.
*sigh* All we're gonna be left with are the Kardashians, the Hiltons, the Lohans and cockroaches. Apparently God's gonna have a little fun with us sinners before the End of Times. *considers repenting, but doesn't have that kind of time.*
RIP Rue. Sex and cheesecake for all.
