The Hip-Hopper Hopes to Save Haiti
What's
all this about celebs running for office? It's bad enough that the
Terminator has the desk in California, but now Wyclef Jean has
announced that he too wants to leap into politics. Having always been
politically vocal through his music, the Haitian native has recently
decided that he is going to run for President of Haiti.
This
news comes as a shock to not only the global public, but also to fellow
celebrity activist Sean Penn, who, since the devastating earthquake in
January, has spent the majority of his time in Haiti helping to rebuild
ravaged communities.
However,
even in the face of vocal doubters, the hip-hop artist is still
determined to be a part of the country's election in November.
The
suffering people of Haiti, the youth of Haiti... can't take another
five years of the corruption that's been going on for the past 200
years, said Wyclef last week.
The
earthquake that killed nearly 300,000 Haitians was devastating enough.
Do the people of Haiti really need the media sh*t-storm that's
guaranteed to follow Wyclef in this election, too?
What do you think?
