Canadian Stars We Love Right Now

Although Americans typically dominate the music, movie and television scene, Canadians are continuing to penetrate the industry to become some of the most recognized people on the scene. Here are some of Canada’s current bright stars:

WithJustin Bieber and Drake being nominated in the Best New Artist category of the Grammy’s and Arcade Fire winning the Grammy for Album of the Year, it has become obvious that Canadian talent is making an impact on the world music scene.

Canadian’s have also been making an impact elsewhere in Hollywood, where our very own Ryan Reynolds was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2010. This romantic comedy star has been steadily gaining popularity, and this year he stars in the superhero blockbuster, The Green Lantern.

Another Canadian that is continuing to garner both popular and critical acclaim in his work is Ryan Gosling. Gosling was nominated at this year’s Golden Globe for Best Actor for his performance in Blue Valentine, which is not his first nomination.

With the two highest-grossing films of all time under his belt, James Cameron’s work as a writer, director and producer has made him one of the most sought after directors in Hollywood. His 2010 release ofAvatar is currently the highest-grossing film ever, and he is currently working on its sequel.

The Emmy and Golden Globe nominated musical dramedy Glee is starring Canada’s own Cory Monteith. With the popularity of this show, this leading man is continuing to reinforce that Canadians have some serious talent.

Clearly, Canadians are making a significant contribution to the arts, as these stars only skim the surface of Canada’s current talent.
