Popular Host to Tie the Knot With Browns Shoe Heiress and Fashion Designer Jessica Brownstein
MONTREAL - We hope that Canadian Idol fans will show some decorum next week. Because, let's face it, how many times has the young Mulroney smiled charmingly through high-pitched, teenage-girl shrieks of "We love you Ben!"? He never brushes off a fan and rewards every shriek with a wave and impossibly pearly smile.
So there you have it. Ben Mulroney is getting married next week. Mulroney, the son of former prime minister Brian Mulroney, and his bride-to-be Jessica Brownstein will tie the knot in Montreal on Oct. 30, 2008.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Ben Mulroney confirmed Thursday that the wedding will take place at St. Patrick's Basilica in Montreal and that the ceremony will be a small, private family affair. Mulroney, 32, proposed to Brownstein, 29, a Montreal fashion designer and stylist, during lunch last December at a popular Montreal deli on Greene Avenue. Fellow diners said the romantic moment between the pair, who grew up together in the affluent Westmount neigbourhood, happened very quickly. And they only realized what had occurred when they heard clothing designer and stylist Jessica excitedly answering: "Yes, yes, yes!".
The couple had been together for almost a year when he popped the question. And yes ladies, he did get down on one knee.
Ben Mulroney is best known as the host of Canadian Idol and of CTV entertainment show eTalk Daily. The last time a Mulroney was married in Montreal was when the former prime minister's daughter, Caroline, wed stockbroker Andrew Lapham in 2000. That wedding attracted hundreds of on-lookers and more than 400 guests, including former U.S. president George Bush and former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher.
