Shocking New Details In The Case Revealed (Seriously)

Looks like Chris Brown's "I'm going to beat the rap" smirk while jet-skiing in Miami was a bit premature.

The R&B singer has been formally charged with two felonies, assault with force and making criminal threats following a violent altercation with girlfriend Rihanna on Feb. 8.

Brown's sentencing could range from probation to a maximum of four years and eight months in state prison if convicted on both counts.

Behind-the-scenes, Brown's lawyers have reportedly been working to broker a plea deal that would keep him out of jail if he pleads guilty to a misdemeanor. In an eerie parallel, Brown's legal team includes defense attorney Mark Geragos, one of O.J. Simpson's "if the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit" legal eagles. Yikes.

Police notes from the night of the attack (all of it ALLEGEDLY, of course) have hit the Internet and provide disturbing new details.

According to E!:

According to an affidavit filed by Det. De Shon Andrews, the incident between the singers was sparked when Rihanna "picked up Brown's phone and observed a three-page text message from a women who Brown had a previous sexual relationship" with.

Per Andrews, Brown then attempted to force Rihanna out of the car, which he was unable to do due to the fact that she was still wearing her seatbelt. Instead, he shoved her face into the passenger side car window, thus causing one-inch raised circular contusions.

According to the affidavit, Brown also allegedly punched Rihanna in her left eye and continued punching her while steering the car, ultimately biting her left ear and fingers and putting her in a headlock, "causing her to be unable to breathe and she began to lose consciousness. She began attempting to gauge his eyes in an attempt to free herself."

"The assault caused Robyn F.'s mouth to fill with blood and blood to spatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle," Andrews said.

Per the detective, Rihanna attempted to phone her assistant but was unable to get through so instead pretended to talk to her for Brown's benefit, saying, "I'm on my way home. Make sure the cops are there when I get there."

It was at that point Brown allegedly replied, "You just did the stupidest thing ever. Now I'm really going to kill you."

The case against him is proceeding despite Rihanna's refusal to press charges or cooperate with police in their investigation. A police source tells British newspaper The Sun: Rihanna says she doesn't want to testify against him. She has had a change of heart and doesn't want the case to proceed." Apparently all it took to sway her was an iPod, some jewelry and Brown to pinkie swear never to do it again.

Rihanna reportedly told police that this wasn't the first time Brown had gotten physical with her, but the violence was getting worse. Can you say "understatement?"

Adding to the shocking situation, Rihanna's father, Ronald Fenty, has revealed that her family has been unable to reach her, saying "I can't get on to her. Her mother can't get on to her, her brother told me she changed her email. Somebody has a stranglehold on her. I'm lost."

Brown is expected to be in a Los Angeles court house later today. He and Rihanna have been staying together in L.A. following their reconciliation in Miami.

Seriously, this situation is more tragic than any Lifetime made for TV movie.
