Singer Arms Herself . . . With Ink

Rihanna has been silent so far about that whole under-the-radar incident some of you may have heard about, but she seems to be following in Madonna's gun heel footsteps and sending Chris Brown a subliminal message with some killer accessories.

The recovering "Umbrella" singer, hopefully on a forever break from Brown, was out on the town with a group of guys, including Brody Jenner and a couple of his Bromance BFFs. But that wasn't all the muscle RiRi was toting---she was packing mad heat with two new gun tattoos.

According to UsWeekly, Los Angeles-based tattoo artist BangBang originally sketched the guns on her upper arms, but because of her CoverGirl contract, RiRi opted for the rib cage instead.

The tattoo artist suggests the handgun design is based on a piece of jewelry the Disturbia singer was wearing and insists it's not related to her recent uh "issues" with Brown. Riiiight.

I think it's very empowering, very protective, BangBang told E! entertainment. I think the gun is very strong and very powerful.

We'd have suggested watching "Waiting to Exhale" and several pints of Ben and Jerry's instead but that's just us.

As with anything connected to Rihanna lately, lots of people are questioning the aesthetics of the disturbia-ing tattoos but even more are asking what it all means: a not-so-subtle message of empowerment -- or a warning -- to Brown?

Whatever it means, stay tuned for lesser-loved tattoo-copycats Lily Allen and
Lindsay Lohan's gun tat photos to appear online after an upcoming late-night bender.

The new ink aside, we're actually more shocked that the pop princess was hanging out with Brody and his D-list crew, and even reportedly gave bestie Frankie Delgado a "lap-type dance." Still, we guess they are better companions than the alternative. We don't know what distinguishes a regular lap dance from a lap-type dance, though . . .

Maybe "No More Loser Boyfriends" would have been a better tat.
