Canadian Rocker Launches Eco-Friedly Denim Line
90's rock star Alanis Morissette has teamed up with current marijuana lover Woody Harrelson to create a line of eco-friendly jeans. Although denim is our decade's go-to casual wear, it was once a huge hippie-only statement. Their new line Reco Jeans carries on this tradition by being manufacured by 50% recycled denim.
Twenty percent of the world's annual pesticide use is used on cotton production, making organic cotton the way to go - but the problem is the cost. Organic is very expensive to produce and therefore to buy. This vegan duo has come up with a sustainable solution: 50% recycled denim is as strong as regular denim and eliminates waste that would normally end up in a landfill.
The fabric used by Reco Jeans is collected from various manufacturers odds and ends piles and then taken to a re-processing mill where it is broken down. The fibres are then spun into quality yarn and woven into strong fabric sheets and died indigo blue. The jeans come in a variety of gorgeous styles and look just as hip as your favorite designer denims.
Woody and Alanis both swear by their vegan-only diets. Now these two stars are turning our favorite blue jeans green!
