Canadian Duo Exercise and Educate the Mind with Endangered Species Memory Game

S.O.S. Together Inc. (Save Our Species), founded by Julie Bredin and Anouk Bikkers, aims to help inspire people to improve the effects of their footprint on the livelihood of our environment.

As they say, timing is everything and that's the story with S.O.S. Together. Anouk and Julie met in Vancouver in 1996 where they realized their shared zeal for animals, and there the seed was planted for an ever blossoming friendship.

Around eight years ago Anouk created the first prototype of The Endangered Species Memory Game. It wasn't, however, until 2007 when Anouk met with Julie to discuss the idea of starting a business that the future of the game came to be written. After only 2 years of working together, The Endangered Species Memory Game is being sold at over 27 retail locations, and Julie and Anouk have been recognized by the Jane Goodall Institute, Mountain Equipment Co-Op, and teachers and parents across North America for creating an invaluable medium through which to communicate about our endangered wildlife.

Inspiration through education is the basis for the Endangered Species Memory Game. 36 cards, illustrated by Anouk, showcase a selection of the world's endangered animals. Anouk and Julie have worked to include more than just an image of these animals; each card provides quick and interesting facts and information on the reverse.

S.O.S. Together is a member of 1% For the Planet, a growing global movement of over 1200 companies who donate to environmental organizations worldwide. The pair has also made sure the game was manufactured locally in Toronto, with eco friendly materials, vegetable-based oils, and 100% Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) paper.

Julie and Anouk hope the Endangered Species Memory Game inspires people worldwide to assess the impact they are having on the world's environment and wildlife and to live carefully. Julie and Anouk continue to look at ways they can give back and further educate people on their actions to help save our planet, together. Keep an eye open for the second edition of the game, which is currently in development.
