Contraceptive Pills and Needles No Longer Female Only Market
The news of a testosterone injection gives women hope that men will take a more active role in the great contraceptive debate. Until now, it was solely on the female to make sure she swallows a pill on a daily, weekly or monthly basis or gets an injection on a semi annual basis. The "jab" will allow men, to be liberated within the contraceptive world and not have to rely solely on a condom or the word of a partner who says they are using a method of birth control.
The monthly testosterone injection, work by temporarily blocking sperm production. The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism reports in China where trails are underway only one man in a 100 fathered a child while getting the injections.
Now, what about those who into their relationship decide it's time for kids? The good news is that six months after the "jab" is stopped sperm counts will return to normal.
With this news one should remember that a condom is still needed to prevent the spread of STD's between you and your partner. The downside to this medical marvel is that with the fear of pregnancy erased many people men and women may opt to "bareback" it, leaving them open to a variety of diseases.
For men, this is not a get out of jail free card, as it's not 100% effective in stopping pregnancy, it does not stop the spread of STD's, HIV or Aids, and it simply reduces the chance of conceiving a baby to about 1%.
