Foods That Are Heavenly For Your Hair

Expensive haircuts, conditioning treatments and hair products can do a great job vamping up your hair and making it shine - but the results are temporary. If you want truly healthy hair you have to look to your diet. These foods and vitamins are not only healthy for your body but are also guaranteed to make your locks lovely!

Omega-3 Fatty Acids - Salmon, nuts and sardines are just a few foods that are rich in Omega-3. These fats help make your hair shiny. Our body can't synthesize these fats on its own so it needs to get them from external sources. Finally, a great excuse to eat nuts!

Vitamin B - Foods rich in Vitamin B have be found to promote hair growth and slow hair loss - and YES, even women can be subject to the cruel torture that is baldness. Vitamin B rich foods include beans, bran, peas, carrots, soybeans, eggs, carrots and cauliflower.

Iron - Foods that are rich in iron are awesome for your hair. Thinning hair is often a sign of iron deficiency. If you think you are lacking iron in your diet (you should be eating about 10 mg daily), start adding foods like bran, eggs, wholegrain cereals, dried fruits and leafy green vegetables to your meals.

Healthy Protein - Getting lots of protein is important - but it has to be the healthy kind. Red meat can actually aid hair loss by producing extra dihydrotestosterone or DHT, which is known to kill hair follicles. When eating protein, stick to fish, egg-whites, beans, lean poultry, nuts and just small amounts of lean red meat.
