Improve Your Circulation For a Healthier You

Exercise Is a Great Way to Improve Overall Circulation

altPicture in your mind the busiest intersection in the world, with thousands of cars all jammed up-then imagine that same scene stretching out 75,000 miles! That's what the body's complex circulation system looks like. Your body has 75,000 miles of arteries, veins and capillaries. Bottom line, if you have poor circulation nutrients don't reach critical organs and extremities. This can lead to painful joints, reduced energy, cold hands, cold feet, even cramps. Poor circulation can make you feel older than you really are.

This is where the lymphatic system comes in. The lymphatic system removes impurities and other toxins from the blood. It helps us with immune response to colds or other foreign bodies such as viruses and bacteria. It is designed to be a high tech drainage and transport system for our bodies that helps find impurities and transports them out of our system via the blood.

Even though our body is really smart, sometimes we need to give it a jumpstart to keep our system working in top form. Just like a car getting a tune-up. So how do we 'jumpstart' our bodies? Exercise is a wonderful way to keep blood (and impurities) flowing. Acupuncture is also fantastic for stimulating our body's immune system. Massage is another way to release toxins that build up in our muscles, all the way down to the cellular level.

Try one of these simple tips: take a hot shower morning and night to stimulate your circulation and open your pores. Then finish with a cold shower to close off your pores and keep bacteria from getting in. It's an easy refreshing remedy. Another is using a hot towel to scrub your body top to bottom before rinsing with hot, then cold water. You will look and feel great in minutes!

And while you're at it, get rid of those negative feelings that you may be harboring that keep you from relaxing. Just as our circulation can be blocked from poor eating habits and lack of exercise, our minds can cause a lot of blockage on their own as well. Start taking steps towards a more positive you!
