Tips For Traveling While Pregnant

If you're expecting a baby on the way and you still have that empty vacation time to fill up before summer hits its last trimester and you begin your most trying stages of motherhood, here are a few pointers to keep in mind when you're on the go:

Avoid sitting for long periods of time

Doctors say that sitting idle increases risk for blood clot, so try to get up and walk around as much as possible. If you're in a car, take breaks. On a plane, move around the aisle when you can and be sure to secure an aisle seat.

Ask your travel agent or airline about restrictions

Many airlines and cruise lines have restrictions for pregnant women in their third trimester and general limitations/special accommodations that are important to be informed about.

Don't travel solo

During pregnancy you are prone to an overload of stress, even over the simplest things. With hormones flying and discomfort ever present, make sure you avoid the chance of any mishaps by traveling with your partner or close friend, someone who you trust and can help you out in case of an emergency.

Wear comfortable clothing

The last thing you want in all the chaos of traveling is to feel restricted by your clothing. Check the weather forecast ahead of time and dress according to what you will be most comfortable in and what will be the most accessible for changing in and out of.
