Home Remedies For A Dry Scalp
We all know that a head full of dandruff is a pain to deal with at any time of year, but the winter season has too many annoyances of its own to make flaky hair tolerable in any capacity. Nevertheless, that pesky white stuff makes a persistent comeback every winter as though it's in style. Hmm, are we up for rockin' the shoulder snow? Pass.
Dandruff is caused by various factors which can include poor nutrition and excessive use of chemical soap products. More often than not, though, harsh weather conditions contribute to drying up the skin and then shedding the loose scales.
So what do you do to avoid raining confetti from your head? Here are some tips to try at home:
Hot Oil Therapy
This is said to be the most effective method for treating dandruff. Massage your scalp with hot oil and let it sit for an hour. Take a steaming hot bath and rinse the hair out, then apply a cup of lemon juice.Wash hair and repeat regimen a few times a week. Other ingredients that are good to rinse with are cider vinegar, apple juice, and coconut oil.
Organic Shampoo
Most cosmetic shampoos are loaded with harsh chemicals. Dandruff can be caused by an improper PH balance due to your daily shampoo ingredients. Try an organic shampoo, preferably one that is formulated specifically for your PH balance and is made with natural substances.
Eat Raw
Don't worry, not exclusively. The acidity levels in your body are also contributing factors to severe dandruff problems and can often be remedied by a change of diet. Incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables into your weekly menu and cut back on junk food and dairy. The healthier you eat, the healthier your skin will look and feel.
