Is Your Coffee a Metaphor for Your Personality?
You may not think that your morning cup o’ joe conveys anything about you beyond your caffeine addiction, but research shows that your coffee of choice can spill the beans on your personality and behavioral patters.
According to Australian body language experts Judi James and James Moore, the way you take your coffee can expose your self-esteem, stress levels, and even your sex life. Are they full of beans? You decide.
Decaf or Soy Milk Drinkers: James and Moore argue that decaf or soy milk drinkers are a bunch of self-righteous eco-worriers. These people have a tendency to be fussy in the bedroom. At the same time, the soy-milk drinker may be more self-aware than their milk-guzzling counterpart.
Latte Drinkers
Latte drinkers don’t skimp on the good stuff. While your morning beverage may cost you more than double the price of a regular cup of joe, you’ve realized that it’s the little indulgences in life that make you happy. You’re more concerned about now than the future, which can often be a good thing. On the downside, latte drinkers can be what James and Moorse call “urban fashionistas,” people-pleasers “with an irresistible obsession for other's admiration.”
Cappuccino Fans
Cap drinkers aren’t materialistic, but they may lack luster and detail. The cappuccino drinker enjoys sex, but is easily bored with a dull partner.
Instant Coffee Drinker
The jovial, straight-forward type. These people are likely to be lazy (after all, how hard is it to brew a cup of coffee??) James and Moore say these are the type of people who are likely to keep their socks on while having sex!
Espresso Drinker
The authors describe espresso as the "filterless cigarette of the coffee drinking universe." Espresso drinkers are likely to be moody and hard-bitten, yet skilled in the sac. Watch out, though—espresso drinkers aren’t loyal!
Black Coffee
You’re straight-up. You don’t sugar-coat things or dilute them for people. You’re a no-nonsense type of person, preferring honest-to-goodness flavor over processed foods. You’re tough, slightly bitter, and you keep it real.
Home-Brewed Java in a Travel Mug
You’re watching your wallet (which is a good thing). Did you know the average Canadian can spend up to a thousand dollars on coffee per year? Of course you did, which is why you prefer to pocket your change.
