Who has time for sleep? Between working overtime at your
job, finding time to spend with your friends, picking up after your kids
and enjoying time with your husband, it's a wonder if you get more than
five or six hours a night. When that alarm goes off at 6 a.m. so you
can go for a morning jog before you shower and get ready to head into
the office, opening your eyes seems next to impossible. But if you want
to retain your youthful good looks - and your good health - for as long
as you can, you're going to need to find time to get in those full 40
winks.
Famously youthful Heather Graham says her beauty sleep is the only reason she looks so much younger than her 41 years.
"I try to get 11 or 12 hours of sleep a night," the actress told People magazine. "It sounds excessive but that's really what I need. It does the trick."
Doctors agree that a full 12 hours of sleep is more than average, but maintain that the average adult needs seven to nine hours of sleep a night to feel her best, according to the Mayo Clinic.
It may be hard to find time to squeeze in so much shuteye, but your body will thank you if you do. Try to go to bed earlier, even if it means one less drink with the gals at dinner.
