GO BIG With Your Photos

How to put a contemporary spin on your photos.

I may be biased as this is a photo of my child, in my chair, on my rug, taken by my fella but the designer in me can't stop picturing this shot blown up 2X life size. I would hang it low, on a massive blank wall, perhaps with the actual chair sat in front.

This style of art imitating life is reminiscent of Jakub Dolejs work. I'd share a shot of Jakub's here, but his website disclaimer scared me a little. Follow the link to view his work he's a real talent.

Don't be afraid to go big, REALLY big when printing your personal photographs. A shot like this, in a large scale, will have incredible impact and tell a personal story. Even if a black and white shot gets grainy in a larger print (which it will), the impact in scale and subject validate the artistic integrity. It's ok if it's not perfect and clear.

This could be amazing in a contemporary children's room. They like nothing more than to look at photos of themselves and other children, and this style agrees with the modern grown up esthetic too.
