A guide on what you should unpack first when you get to your new place.
After finally arriving at your new college dorm (or off campus apartment) you might glance around at the piles of boxes and suitcases with a look of desperation. So where do you start now?
4. Make your bed. No matter what you end up unpacking, at the end of the evening you'll probably need somewhere to sleep. So instead of sleeping on a bare mattress (with no cover in sight!), unpack all the bedding. You will certainly need a nice bed to collapse on after the day is over.
3. Unpack all your lingerie. Hopefully you're the kind of person that changes your underwear every morning! With all your lingerie put away, you'll have a clean and fresh pair of undies (and bra) waiting for you when you get up the next day.
2. Take out all essential toiletries (forget the rest!). Only unpack essential toiletries such as a toothbrush, soap, shampoo etc. You don't need to start going through your lotion or perfume collection. If you deviate from the path by unpacking unessential items then you are essentially just wasting precious time!
1. Use common sense. Anyone who moves into a new place will have a huge list of things that they need to accomplish in a very short amount of time. The ultimately tip is: if you have nowhere to store it then don't unpack it! If you are waiting for an extra dresser from IKEA then don't completely unpack all your clothes. In reality, only take out a couple of outfits for the first couple of days. Accessories, clothes, perfumes and shoes should be the last things that you unpack!
Happy unpacking!!
