5 Inexpensive Ways To Upgrade Your Room

When boredom creeps into your royal suite, the urge to splurge sets in. New bed? New furniture? What can you do to make that boring bedroom feel fresher, cleaner, and brand new again? Home improvement and upgrading doesn't always have to fly off the charts in expense. There are plenty of cost effective ways to create a new look! If you're thinking of redecorating, here are a few tips to consider before you make that pricey trek to Home Sense.

Rearranging - Feng Shui anyone? Remember the lost art of perfect placement? First, feel out your space. Is your bed and furniture situated in a location that allows for openness in the room? Even if the current situation is not problematic, rearranging is often the best way to completely revamp the look of a room. Try moving things around!

New Scent - Did you know that your sense of smell is a very distinct (...distink?) and powerful way of adapting to a new environment? The same scent in the same place can become so boring, predictable, and even a little stale that it's important to introduce new ones every now and again. Try diffusers or essential oils, a citrus or lavender plug-in can do wonders for changing the atmosphere.

Repaint - Ah fresh coats of paint! Who doesn't love completely switching up their colours? If you're feeling bold and spontaneous, a bucket of new paint can definitely do the trick.

Knick Knacks - Clear any desk, night stand, or table space you may have and swap whatever items are on it for some new trendy baubles. A couple of elegant picture frames, a basket of gold and silver balls, a set of candles....be creative and give yourself something pretty to look at!

Wall Decor - For those of you who still have posters on the wall, perhaps it's time to upgrade to a sophisticated art piece or wall hanging? Most home improvement stores carry a wide selection of pictures and art pieces that can touch up a room nicely. Full length mirrors are always a great addition too, plus they open up the room with the illusion of extra space!
