Is it taboo to date two guys that are Facebook Friends?
Dear Maria,
I just moved to Toronto and I admit it, I joined a dating site. It turns out it's not a bad way to meet guys. Here's the problem though. They all know each other! I found out when I added them on Facebook. My question is...Can I go out on first dates with both these guys in the same week? Should I be worried that they talk to each other about their dates? Do guys even do that?
Sincerely,
Dating friends in Toronto
Dear Dating Friends in Toronto,
I'm strongly against adding people on Facebook before a first date. All the information you need for a first date should be found in their online dating profile. You do not need to know what they looked like via tagged photos from 4 years ago so soon. Trust me.
Men don't typically kiss and tell, though they may reveal who they've slept with to their friends in passing conversation. If you are that concerned, space out their dates by 10 days. Otherwise, do a bit of Facebook investigating. Just because they are "friends" on Facebook does not neccessarily mean they are actual friends. Are there any recent wall messages, tagged photos, and clever status update comments evident between them? If there's virtual evidence, it'll be tricky, and you should exercise caution. If not, go for it.
Best,
Maria the Date Coach
