Infidelity in Dream Land Doesn't Mean You're Not In Love
You're
happy in your relationship. Your partner treats you well, understands
you, is sensitive to your wants and needs, and the sex? It's
fan-tastic.
For lack of a more inventive description: He's the man of
your dreams.
Until... you start dreaming about someone else.
Many
of us have been there before. Tucked into bed, sound asleep, silent as
a lamb - but in dream world... clothes are flying, hair is whipping,
sweat is dripping, and your man? He's nowhere to be found.
The
morning after, you wake up with... what is it? Guilt? Embarrassment? A
smirk on your face that you can't seem to wipe off? Everyone feels
differently about these kinds of dreams, however experts say that sex
dreams, especially those of the infidelitous nature, are very common,
and extremely misunderstood.
The
star of your steamy dreams may not be the object of your real-life
affection. That is to say that dreaming about someone does not
necessarily mean that you have feelings for them. When you dream about
have sex with someone, it is usually symbolic of a certain kind of
closeness you feel with that person - a closeness that is rarely of a
sexual nature.
Perhaps this person helps you out at the office when you
need it, or offers you a smile in the elevator. Maybe you have watched
this person work out and you're impressed by their abilities, or he or
she is simply a person that makes you laugh. All of these good qualities are noted by the brain, and catalogued.
If
your body is craving sexual contact or fulfilment, or maybe you just watched or read something sexy before bed, your mind will draw
out a person who, in your experience, is fit or able or helpful
or kind - whatever kind of sex you desire - and use this person to
fill in the blank. Sort of like solving for X in middle school
algebra.
The brain works in very strange ways, and not all associations made by the brain seem totally rational to us. So next
time you wake up all hot and bothered after a dream about your paper
boy, don't worry. It's totally normal, and is nothing to feel badly
about it all.
Who have you had naughty dreams about?
