We Can't Get Enough Of These Scripted Sweethearts

An on screen romance is nothing without the right chemistry between the couple. The following on pairs had such remarkable chemistry, that these characters will continue to resonate with audiences.

Jennifer Grey & Patrick Swayze - Dirty Dancing
Although there were rumours that the pair didn’t get along, no one can deny the sizzling pairing the two made. This sexy summer romance had every girl imagining themselves as Baby (Jennifer Grey), as they danced and fell in love with Johnny (Patrick Swayze). The pair’s breathtaking chemistry is undoubtedly what turned this low budget film into a massive box office hit and timeless classic.

Rachel McAdams & Ryan Gosling – The Notebook
This epic love story transferred seamlessly on screen namely because McAdams and Gosling had incredibly chemistry. They were very believable as the young and passionate lovers Allie and Noah. The icing on the cake was their romance on screen turned into an off screen relationship, making viewers understand why sparks fly between them the entire movie (seriously, who can forget the scene in the rain?). Their undeniable chemistry had women everyone fall head over heels for this passionate pair.

Julia Roberts & Richard Gere – Pretty Woman
This fairytale romance of a poor girl and cold hearted man works so well because of the undeniably powerful chemistry between Roberts and Gere. They crept into our hearts as we rooted for the success of this modern day Cinderella story. In fact, audiences responded so well to their chemistry that they teamed up again 9 years later for another hit, Runaway Bride. No one can deny that these two are a match made in movie relationship heaven.

Renee Zellweger & Colin Firth – Bridget Jone’s Diary
There is nothing hotter on screen then a love-hate relationship. This is amped as their will they – won’t they story line kept us captivated through two films. Although their chemistry may not be as passionate as McAdams and Gosling, it is still very palpable and keeps us wanting to see more of them together (perhaps the reason for the buzz around rumours that #3 is on its way).

Demi Moore & Patrick Swayze – Ghost
Swayze pulls off magnificent chemistry again alongside Moore. Although the pair spends most of the film apart, audiences truly believe them as a couple and therefore our hearts break at the films tragic plot. Their romantic connection can be seen just through their eyes and their chemistry does not stagger at any point in the film. Finally, the passionate scene where they sculpt a pot to the song ‘Unchained Melody’, allows viewers to be engulfed in their emotions and tenderness.
