Disgraced U.S. congressman Anthony Weiner is in some serious hot water after texting and tweeting scandalous pictures of himself to several women online (he claims he never had physical relations with any of them). His wife, Huma Abedin, has largely stayed out of the public eye since the scandal broke, but reputable sources are reporting that she's pregnant with their first child. Could this have been avoided?

According to Huffington Post contributor Vicki Larson, Huma shouldn't have married such a hot guy. Hot guys are a hot commodity, and they know it, says Larson - if you marry down in the looks department, your guy will worship you.

We don't have time to list everything that's wrong with Larson's argument, but let us try. First, the idea that sexual attraction shouldn't matter to women is ridiculous - we want to be just as turned on by our husbands as they are by us. Second, Larson's article implies that Huma's predicament is somehow her own fault, as though she can blamed for Weiner deciding to snap a few pics of his dong and plaster them on the internet for all to see. Third, who determines which men are hot? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

And finally, not all hot guys are terrible people - and some not-so-hot guys are total d-bags (Newt Gingrich, anyone?).
