Horror fans from near and far descend upon Toronto as Rue Morgue's Festival of Fear runs through the weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
It's a chance to meet like-minded individuals, to peruse a plethora of booths for some supernatural shopping, attend interesting off-site events, and meet some of the horror world's icons.
This year's Guest of Honour is none other than Canadian cinematic legend David Cronenberg. His credits as a director span back to the 60s, and include films like Videodrome, The Fly, Naked Lunch, M Butterfly, Crash, A History of Violence, and Eastern Promises. He penned a number of his films and also earned credits as actor, cinematographer, editor, and producer.
There will be a number of other special appearances made by:
- Lans Henrikson This actor has more than 150 credits, buthe's probably most well known as Bishop from Aliens.
- Joan Collins At first glance this soap opera superstarmight seem out of place (what horror fans tune in to Dynasty or Guiding Light?). However, Golden Globe and Emmy nominated diva starred in the British horror classic Tales from the Crypt.
- James Marsters Best Best known as Spike, the hunky punky Brit with bite in the television series Buffy: The Vampire Slayer.
- Julie Newmar The first purrrfect Catwoman on the original Batman television series (growly voiced Eartha Kitt being the other) *meow* *kapow*
- Peter Facinelli I remember him from Can't Hardly Wait but his draw to this convention is his role as vampire patriarch Carlisle Cullen in the Twilight series.
Enjoy and have a horror-ific time!
