A Cinematic Peek Into The Financial Crisis
Today, WOMAN.ca got a look into the underhanded underbelly of American financial politics. There's this ancient assumption that there's a certain amount of corruption whenever money is involved. (Duh!?)
However, the actual degree of dishonesty is simply staggering. This documentary investigates the 2008 financial crisis and examines how the United States came into their present economic state. Exposing the strings that were pulled, and warnings that were ignored; and how those actions and choices-not-to-act cost more than $20 trillion and left millions homeless and jobless.
I confess that I'm not well versed in financial terms or procedures, but the dialogue is so well laid out it's accessible to everyone across the board. However, it is a rabbit hole in which the more light that is shed, the darker the situation looks.
It seems that some people were so selfish and money hungry, they set the stage for their own country's self-destruction with barely batting an eye.
Written and directed by Academy Award nominee Charles Ferguson and narrated by Academy Award winner Matt Damon, it's a star studded leap into the depths of the truth. A hard, cold slap in the face.. With minimal exposition, the interviews of financial experts, academics, politicians, and journalists tell the story.
Inside Job is eye opening, it's educational, it's upsetting, it's powerful, it's very well done!
Inside Job hits theatres on October 29th.
