Curl Up With A Good Flick


For the movie lover on your Christmas list, or even if you’re just stuck for an idea, DVD’s always make a great presents.

Despicable Me
was released on DVD December 14th. Steve Carell voices the super villain Gru, who is planning the biggest heist of his career. He takes in three little orphans as pawns of his scheme, but they start to change the way he sees things. It makes a great Christmas gift for children, and it is an animated movie that is sure to appeal to the whole family.

Another movie that will make a great Christmas gift that the whole family can enjoy is Disney’s A Christmas Carol. This remake of the classic tale by Charles Dickens uses the same performance capture animation used in The Polar Express. Making this a fresh adaptation of the classic Christmas tale, and thus a perfect Christmas gift!

Nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Motion Picture Drama category is this summer’s blockbuster thriller Inception. Inception was released on DVD December 7th, making a perfect gift this holiday season. This film is incredibly original, where Cobb (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and his team of specialists set out to plant an idea deep in the subconscious of a dream as a part of a corporate espionage scheme. With impressive visual effects and a complicated but intriguing plot, any one from teenagers to adults will appreciate this gift.

Although opening to mixed reviews, Going the Distancestarring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long is a romantic comedy that’s honesty and hilarity allow it to be an excellent gift to the female in your life. Released on DVD November 30th, this film takes a witty look at how a couple manages when their summer fling turns into a long distance relationship.

Lastly, The Kids are Alright is a terrific dramedy that takes an emotional and funny look at the modern family. This film was praised at film festivals and has been nominated for four golden globes making it a must see for all adults. Having been released on DVD mid-November, this film is the ideal gift for a couple, or anyone who enjoys a film with some heart.
