Kanye West releases new single.
Forgiven by Taylor Swift but still not entirely on the good side of the masses, Kanye West returns to the rap scene after a longer than usual hiatus. His new single "Runaway" has been receiving mixed reviews since its grand unveiling at the MTV Video Music Awards last weekend. In an appropriate fit of irony given the absence of Swift retaliation at the awards show, the song's lyrics demand a "toast for the douchebags" and a few other choice words of the same meaning. Undeniably a surprising move for an artist whose claim to fame has never been self-deprecation. West is said to have recently filmed a forty minute mini movie in Prague for the single, which is reportedly on its way. Now on the move from the stage to radio, the studio version of"Runaway" so far is either loved or hated among listeners with not much of a happy medium. Toronto's 99.9 Virgin Radio played the song last night for their "Pump It or Dump It" segment, during which listeners could call in and voice their opinions on its first debut on the air.
The verdict? Run away, Kanye.
What do you think of Kanye's new hit? Is Kanye's reputation permanently tarnished by his VMA mishap?
