Swift Goes Straight

Taylor Swift's Sophisticated New Look

Taylor Swift has been known to win hearts by melting them with her sweet as pie personality and 'girl next door' looks. Quiet, a little mousy, cute and curly hair - that's the young country pop starwe've come to know and love and be slightly annoyed by. But it turns out that little miss sunshine has a sultry side, who knew?

At Sunday night's 2010 AMA awards show, jaws dropped (at least ours did) when a straight-haired, fringe-banged Swift took to the stage to accept her trophy for Best Female Country Artist. . Looking chic in a sparkly mini dress, and long pin straight tresses, the country darling received more than a few double takes.

Later for her soulful piano performance of "Back To December", she was sexy and sophisticated in an all black pant suit with her new do pulled back into a low, sleek ponytail. As usual, the song was a little lack lustre but it was obvious that Swift is making an effort to improve her stage presence talent-wise.

The lyrics have been rumored to be an apology to ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner for the collapse of their relationship last December, and near the end of it she borrowed "Apologize" by OneRepublic to fuse with her own tune.

Maybe with a new album and a (potentially) new boyfriend, a new image is next? If so, we approve of the more grown up look we saw last night. Curb the curls for a while, Taylor!
