Katy Perry talks music in 'Rolling Stone'

altKaty Perry is hard to miss. With her bright eyeshadow, outrageous outfits and silly personality, it's hard to imagine that this is the same girl who was once known as Katy Hudson, a Christian rock singer. While we don't think Katy's current persona is necessarily at odds with a Christian lifestyle, it's a fairly safe bet that you won't be seeing a bunch of album covers featuring buxom girls in candy-coated bras in the religious aisle of the record store anytime soon.

"When I was a kid, I asked questions about my faith," Katy tells Rolling Stone. "Now I'm asking questions about the world."

Even though she has plenty of political ideas, she knows that her pop music has its limitations. "I'm not a dummy," she says. "I know 'California Gurls' isn't going to save the world. But I got a lot of heart from my upbringing and I put a lot of heart in my songs."

While they may not be saving the world, her tracks are certainly popular - Katy is the first artist in history to have at least one song in the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 for an entire year.
