Hey guys! I'm about half way through The Alchemist... has anyone else read that? It's pretty great so far... very inspiring.

Jessica- I like used bookstores or privately owned bookstores. Something about Indigo/Chapters just takes away from the book buying experience for me.

Helen- I KNOW HOW U FEEL. I've had it for a couple of months now, i read a few pages, and put it down, over and over again. Im not even 1/2 way through yet, but I have heard how amazing it is so I keep pushing to try and finish it. I still haven't decided if its inspirational and full of wisdom, or just junk......

I just can't seem to finish Eckhardt Tolle's New Earth - something about it makes me put it down and read something else!

Where does everyone get their books?
Indigo? Chapters? Used book stores? Through friends? I am such a book worm..but I hate how books (especially hard cover) are so expensive. I try to trade with friends but, still, Indigo gets me every time :P

Hey Alena,
I have also read it a while ago and loved it but I do understand your dilemma. At times, his arguments are very spiritual and mystical which makes it difficult to apply his theories in real life. It's true that it depends on what perspective you take on it or what answers you are looking for when you are reading it. Overall, I felt that it was very inspirational and self motivating.

Has anyone read "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle. I bought it monthes ago and have not managed to read much of it, but with new free time, I've been trying to jump back into it. Anywayyyy, I can decide if it has the potential to inspire and motivate, orrrr if it is just a big giant fakey fake book.....
any thoughts?

Hey Rosemina thanks for the tip will look into that book.
At the same time, I have been reading the Elegance of the hedgehog by Muriel Barberry. It;s a wonderful book and quite funny. It takes place in Paris and is the life of a quirky concierge dealing with all her crazy tenants. It's full of surprises and cultural references. It's worth giving it a read. Enjoy!

Zoe, I absolutely LOVE Stephanie Meyer! I'm a huge fan of the twilight series, but have you read The Host? That book is so different, and totally hooked me in. Laura, I just finished Revolutioary Road last night... and you were so right. It was such a completely depressing novel. I would read it again and reccommend it, but be forewarned... like Laura and I, your soul might also get torn out and thrown against a brick wall, lol.
