Please share you great adventures in Toronto: events, art shows, restaurants and tips to find some cool and quirky places to go. Toronto has much to offer but we cannot be everywhere at the same time so let's share the wealth.
ZUMBA every THURSDAY, 6:15 - 7:15p.m at Vivace Studios. 291A Jane st. (Just north of Bloor) Also every SATURDAY, 12:30 - 1:30p.m at Bold Steps Dance Studio. 144, 30th st, Etobicoke (North of Lake Shore Blvd W)
Zumba mixes body sculpting movements with dance steps mainly derived from latin music. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms. It targets areas such as the glutes, legs, arms, abdominals, and the heart.
Fox Theatre on Queen East is running a 3D Film Fest until July 23. Jaws was scary enough viewed normally, in 3D it's sure to be wonderfully terrifying! For more into go to http://www.foxtheatre.ca/
I am new here but wanted to tell you about a great band who I have recently discovered called Dala who are playing a show in Toronto on August 13 at First Canadian Place. They make really pretty mellow/folk music that makes you instantly chilled out and happy. If you'd like to check them out and maybe catch their show here is their Myspace: www.myspace.com/dalagirls
Summerlicious is on and running until July 19. A great chance to sample the food fare at some of the restaurants you’ve been dying to try. Having a set menu is great way to ensure there’re no surprises when the bill comes (which can sometimes happen at some of the finer dining establishments). For info on which restaurants are participating go to: http://www.toronto.com/summerlicious
Just because it seems like there are less jobs and less money circulating, doesn’t mean you have to have less fun. There are tons of free (or nearly free) things to do around Toronto that don’t involve digging deep into one’s wallet. Sometimes it’s hard to find these activities/events, so I’ll try to provide some helpful tips on events that interest me and hopefully you too:
#1: Retro Reels
This has lots of elements I love: movies, the 80s, the outdoors and it’s free! Rather than forking out the cash for a summer blockbuster in an overly AC-ed theatre (and don’t get me started about the price of movies, whatever happened to toonie Tuesdays?) why not check out some awesome 80s flicks with nature’s AC, the breeze off the water down at the Harbourfront? Grab a blanket, some popcorn and a friend and check out Retro Reels. Movies begin at sundown (9pm) and run every Wednesday from July 8 with Pretty in Pink to August 12 with Labyrinth (one of my faves! Young Jennifer Connolly and David Bowie. “You remind me of the babe!”). In between are Breakin’ on July 15, Desperately Seeking Susan on July 22, Stop Making Sense on July 29 and Say Anything on August 5.
