Love Your Dog The Best You Can
To many of us, our dogs are our babies. Just like any other baby, but with four legs.
Because
we love them so much, it only makes perfect sense that we would aim to
treat them well, and that means giving them the best care and attention
possible.
A sick puppy is a sad puppy, and a sad puppy makes for a sad owner.
To ensure your pet’s best health, here are five tips to follow at home!
1. Check Them Daily
By
giving your dog a home physical exam, you can ensure that there have
been no day-to-day changes in the health and well-being of your pet.
The act of placing your hands on your pet is both therapeutic to them,
and to you as well. Feel around and become familiar with the contours
of your pet’s body. Once you have become more familiar with the skin
and surface of their body, it will be easier for you to notice lumps,
growths or irregularities.
2. Vaccinates Are Just The Tip Of The Needle
Although
it is globally understood that vaccinating your pet is essential to
both their health and safety, as well as your own, it’s vital that you
know a vaccination is only a small portion of what contributes to your
pet’s overall well-being. The maintenance of your pet’s health does not
stop after the needle pokes.
3. Would You Eat It?
Feeding
your four-legged friend can be a stressful task, especially when faced
with a hoard of options. Soft food? Wet food? Dry food? Organic? Breed
specific? If you want your pup to be happy and healthy, think long and
hard about what you’re putting into their bodies. Read the labels, - if
you wouldn’t eat the ingredients yourself, why should they? Stick to
the good stuff like fresh meat and fish, veggies, whole grains and
oats.
4. Keep Fit
Make
sure that your pet gets a good amount of exercise everyday - whether he
or she be big or small, old or young. Getting outside and running a few
laps is not only good for your pup, but it’s good for you too.
5. Play It Safe
Nowadays,
with fancy leather couches, special bamboo floors, and stainless steel
appliances, there are plenty of cleaning products out there that we’re
tempted to buy. Whether you’ve got a curious Cocker or a lively
Labrador, you know that dogs can get into just about anything.
Digesting poisons and toxins is one of the leading causes of pet
illness and fatality - so go for organic cleaners, and keep all of your
supplies well out of sniffing reach.
