A Study Says Women Should Keep Trying
A study from the University of Aberdeen has given new hope to women who have experienced miscarriages. The BBC is reporting that the study encourages women not to wait after they first misscarry.
In
the study, 30,000 women discovered that conceiving within six months of
a miscarriage offered the best chance for a healthy pregnancy. This
means that the old notion, that women should wait a while before trying
again, is false.
The
results were published in the British Medical Journal and have since
been debated at length. This is because international guidelines
regarding pregnancy after miscarriage suggest that women should wait at
least if not more than six months before trying again.
The
study looked at data collected between the years of 1981 and 2000. The
findings showed that women who conceived within less than six months
had a much higher success rate. In addittion, Dr. Sohinee
Bhattacharya, one of the doctors involved with the study, confirmed that
there are no physiological reasons why [one] should delay.
