Does Your Phone Celebrate V-day Better Than You?

altHere is yet another reason why your smart phone is smarter than you. It might even have a better clue about love and relationships.

Love apps, just in time for Valentines day are here for your downloading pleasure. Here are a few popular ones that have been surfacing. Love? Poetry? Movie reviews? E-cards? Zodiac Matching? Dinner reservations [last minute?] There's an app for that.

Digital love in all forms is good for the soul. We've adapted to a culture where you have to say what you mean in 140-characters or less. Emoticons also help in getting our message across. Where would our relationships be without the invention of text-messaging? We'd rather not consider it. Where we can't always be physically with a person, messages let our loved ones know we are thinking of them.

Smoother than Shakespeare
Try writing your own this Valentine’s Day with the Instant Poetry HP app ($1.99)
“Tap a button to pop up some words and then drag them around your screen,” advises the site. “There is a special algorithm to give you exactly the words you need.”
Shakespeare in Bits brings Kate Beckinsale and Michael Sheen intoning the legendary love lines of Juliet and Romeo.

Tiger Woods Texting
Okay, so taking romance tips from Tiger isn't exactly a good idea, but hey, some messages are better left undiscovered. Enter TigerText, created in Los Angeles by some business exec type. It basically deletes any digital traces of cheating, automatically erasing the messages you select for deletion. Think flirtexting is shady? It still boasts half a million downloads and is apparently popular among celebs. Go figure.

Tunes For Love
Nothing is more essential at a party than music. And it's got to be good. Everything else is secondary. Need some tunes to set the mood? Valentine Radio does it right, by auto-compilng soulful grooves. Just make sure your device is fully charged, so as to avoid any awkward silences.

GPS
No, not some acronym for a dirty, but the actual tracking device. The same technology we use to get to our destinations, is being used on dating sites. Thanks to mobile optimization, you can find a mate online who actually lives close by to you. Kind of stalker-ish/creepy but a spike in dating-site use around Valentines day might be a good starting place to find a mate.

2 Becomes 1

Available on Blackberry devices, the Love Calculator, let's you know using an algorithm if you're date is Mr. Right or Mr. Right Now. On the  iPhone,  the  iRelate chart or a Cupid love tester does the same.
Remember, there are apps for almost everything, but in the end, you have to know how to show your love. Take the plunge! Happy V-day!

Hilary Lauren Fox
About the author:

Sometimes she's a redhead, sometimes she's a blonde. Some days it's H&M, and on other days, it's Chanel. What ever the mood, she is a woman who is passionate about the arts, fashion and social media. Born in Toronto, Hilary Lauren Fox is an only child to artist parents - mom was an illustrator and pattern maker, dad was a painter.  Rather then studying the arts as her parents hoped for, Hilary opted for a degree in psychology with dreams of working in a clinical setting. But after graduating she realized that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and that the arts was in her blood, applying her education within the art and fashion world.
