Calling all Gleeks!

Global has launched a new original series called Canada Sings! and they are currently looking for talent in the form of office Glee clubs to participate in a cross-country competition. Yes, office Glee clubs! Each week Canada Sings! will be visiting different workplaces for auditions. The most talented office will be selected to perform and compete in front of a live studio audience. With a team of vocal coaches and world-class choreographers the contestants will be given a matter of days to prepare a performance and a panel of judges will then award the champion glee club a donation to the charity of their choice.

"We're calling out to these talented voices simmering within the workplace to come forward and show us what they've got," said Christine Shipton, Canwest Broadcasting's senior vice president in this press release.

"We're looking for dynamic everyday people with extraordinary talent," said John Brunton, executive producer for Insight Productions. "From the person whistling on the assembly line next to you, to the nurse in pediatrics that sings the children to sleep and the waiter that can really sing happy birthday to the guests, we're so excited to see what Canada brings to the table."

A fusion of The Office and Glee? No appearances by Steve Carell have been promised but let's hope this grand idea gets the green light in the board room and the spotlight on stage. Is your humble Canadian office harboring any undiscovered talent? Could your business be the next in line for show business? Auditions run online from Aug. 30 to Sept. 22 and the show Canada Sings! is set to premiere early 2011 on Global. For more information check out their website.
