Max Weinberg parts ways with Conan O'Brien.
After 17 years of fronting The Max Weinberg Band for Conan O'Brien on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" as well as his brief stint on The Tonight Show, Max Weinberg has announced that he will not be returning to television for O'Brien's new show on TBS. By mutual agreement, the two have decided that the Weinberg band will not be a feature on the show, but the decision does not appear to be one of animosity or tension.
In a statement of his own, Weinberg said, "Conan and I met on a New York City street corner in the Spring of 1993 and my association with Conan, his staff, and crew has been a deadly rewarding experience for me. I thank them for their first rate work on the bandstand. I wish Conan and his show the best and I do look forward to dropping by."
As a drummer for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, Weinberg has hinted at pursuing musical endeavors aside from showcasing his talent on late night television. Nonetheless, his deadpan comedy and friendly banter will be sorely missed. Good luck Max!
Conan O'Brien's new show "Conan" premieres November 8 on TBS.
