The Flintstones turns 50

The Google search page today features a picture of The Flintstones and it's not just to remind you to take your daily vitamin. September 30th marks the anniversary of Hanna Barbera's popular TV series premiere, and this year it turns the big 5-0! It was 1960 when ABC decided to air a television show that pandered to an audience of both children an adults in its humour. The U.K.'s Telegraph has compiled a list of 15 things you may not know about the cartoon, one being that Fred and Wilma were the first couple ever to be seen on TV sharing a bed. The show was also sponsored by Winston cigarettes at one point and featured Fred and Barney in their commercials.

Dated controversy aside, Bedrock was the place to tune in to for most of us growing up, watching Fred and Barney's hijinx and adventures in bowling, Wilma and Betty, Pebbles, Bam Bam, sliding down the dinosaur tail.....what are your favourite Flintstone memories?
