These Women Deliver A Punch Line Like No Other
We love a lady who can make us laugh. Here are our Top 5 Pics for The Funniest Gals in Show Biz:
Tina Fey
Tina Fey has become a wildly popular comedy icon over the past decade, and has garnered enormous success. With seven Emmy awards to speak of, four Screen Actors Guild Awards, four Writers Guild of America Awards, and a Mark Twain Prize For American Humor Award recently announced and on the way, this lady has proven herself to be one of the most powerful women in Hollywood! Fey was a long-time sketch comedy writer for Saturday Night Live and in 2008 had audiences cracking up over her uncanny parody of then presidential candidate, Sarah Palin. Now she's the creator and star of the hit comedy series 30 Rock and pretty much sitting on top of the world, as far as we're concerned!
Wanda Sykes
Loud and vivacious, that's how most people might describe the talented spark plug of an actress! Wanda Sykes is best known for her late night talk-show The Wanda Sykes Show and her appearances on a plethora of films and television series such as HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm . She wrote a number of episodes for The Chris Rock Show and was the voice of Stella in Over The Hedge - but that doesn't even begin to showcase her repertoire! Lately Sykes has been making headlines by speaking out for gay rights and the opposition of bullying in schools, as seen in the "We Give A Damn" campaign. An open lesbian, Sykes has two children with her wife Alex and was the featured entertainer for the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner, becoming both the first African American woman and the first openly LGBT person to get the role.
Sarah Silverman
Big S is the notorious Bad Girl of the comedy world, and we love her for it! Always the controversial rebel, Silverman uses satire and irony to conjure up the most outrageous and eccentric jokes about the hottest topics. After being fired as a writer from Saturday Night Live, Silverman went on to other endeavors with featured appearances on various late night shows, including The Larry Sanders Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and for three seasons The Sarah Silverman Program. Her relationship with TV host Jimmy Kimmel was high profile and none of us can forget her hilarious sketch about Matt Damon. No matter what she's up to, we always know it's going to be trouble - but probably really funny trouble.
Kristen Wiig
Kristen may still be considered 'up and coming' with her comedy gigs being exclusive to SNL, but she's funny enough to top the list. Joining the SNL cast in November 2005, Wiig made a name for herself with characters like the attention seeking Penelope who has to upstage everybody at a party, overly excitable Sue who can't contain herself over surprises, and The Target Lady, just to name a few. Wiig is a versatile actress who has made film appearances in Knocked Up, Macgruber, and in the hilarious and popular television series Flight of the Conchords.
Amy Poehler
Mean Girls, Saturday Night Live, Parks and Recreation - is there anything this woman can't do? Married to comedian and Arrested Development star Will Arnett and good friends with SNL co-star Tina Fey, Poehler is a powerhouse of success with so many projects on the go it's hard to keep up! When she's not back for cameos on SNL for her signature stint of "Weekend Update", her increasingly popular gig at Parks and Recreation seems to be tiding her over. Renewed for a third season Amy Poehler is going strong and we're behind this funny lady all the way!
