Fans of the AMC television series Mad Men were no doubt dismayed to hear that the award-winning drama about a 1950s advertising agency in New York City would be put on hiatus in 2012, but its sexy stars are keeping busy. Jon Hamm, who is arguably the sexiest man in the universe and also the actor who plays Don Draper, is certainly not planning on using this vacation from TV to jet down to Cabo or go into hiding - he'll be showing off his handsome mug on stage.
Hamm will star in a production of Anton Chekov's The Three Sisters, the Los Angeles Times reports. He will play the role of Vershinin, the philosophizing military officer who enters into an adulterous relationship with Masha. And who better to play the part of Masha than Jennifer Westfeldt, Hamm's off-screen girlfriend? (We know, we're disappointed to hear he's taken, too.)
Hamm's familiar with venues other than Mad Men, and his acting range is much wider than simply " sexy brooding alcoholic ad executive." He's shown considerable comedic chops, once hosting an episode of Saturday Night Live and enjoying a recurring guest role on 30 Rock as Liz Lemon's incredibly handsome but unbelievably stupid ex-boyfriend. As for The Three Sisters, the production will use the English translation of the play by Christopher Hampton and performances will take place at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
