Fearing The Wrath Of Millions, Finally Signs On for Arrested Development Movie
If you've spent the past few weeks poking your voodoo doll of Juno and Superbad star Michael Cera with a pointy stick in hopes that it will convince him to sign on for the Arrested Development movie, get ready to geek out.
Cera, the lone holdout of the film adaptation of the TV series has finally signed on to reprise his role as the awkward George-Michael Bluth (we know, a real stretch), thus ending weeks of speculation he's in! He's out! Wait, he's totally in again! -- that has vexed and teased fans. Uhm, doesn't he owe the show . . . everything?
All other Bluths, including Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Jessica Walter, Jeffrey Tambor and David Cross, are already on board.
"Arrested Development has such a special place in my heart, Will Arnett told EW.com, and I can't wait to strap that fake hand back on and fight the seal once and for allwait, which guy did I play?" (For the uninitiated, that'd be hugely incompetent illusionist GOB.)
Fans of the show have been clamoring for another round of Bluth family dysfunction ever since the critically applauded -- but little watched -- show was cancelled in 2006 and the finale slyly hinted that the story could continue on the big screen.
According to insiders, the movie may be released as early as the end of the year, if they can put it together in time. At the Oscars, narrator-cum-film-director/producer Ron Howard said, "It's looking very much like we're going to make [the movie], but we've now been asked to stop offering any details. It's cloaked in a little mystery, but it's looking good."
Cue the family dysfunction and confusion about Tobias Fünke's sexual preferences!
