Tips For Picking The Big Day
He proposed, you accepted. You've got the ring on your finger, a pile of wedding planning books, and a list of bridesmaids ecstatic to help you out with all the finer details of the big day.
But you still don't have a 'big day'.
How do you decide when to get married? Here are some tips to consider:
Rule out obvious dates - Sit down with a calendar and go through each month of the following year, listing off dates that you know you for sure couldn't land your wedding on. These occasions could be holidays, birthdays, friends' weddings, etc. Make sure you're thorough and ask around just to be sure that you're in the clear.
Select season -Choose the season you'd like to get married in and weigh the pros and cons of the weather conditions, whether or not you want it outdoors, and who would be able to attend. Weddings are less expensive during the off seasons but it's up to you to decide whether that's a wise option for you or not. Remember that any season is going to have factors to consider. With summer comes rain and heat, while winter weddings are at risk of severe snow storms restricting travel plans.
Select day - Many weddings take place on a Saturday but that doesn't mean you have to as a rule. Sundays are often less expensive than Saturdays, but you would have to consider there location of the ceremony and availability on during hours where there might normally be a worship service. The amount of guests and where they're coming from could be entirely dependent on the day as well.
Consider venue -Most venues book way in advance so your wedding date may fall in the hands of their scheduling. If it's a venue you can't see yourself rejecting regardless of the date, place yourself on the waiting list and then just wait to see what's available. Whatever you decide, the people who matter most will do their best to accommodate.
