Why we love the royal wedding

altMaybe it's because even 250 years after the Revolutionary War, we still feel some connection to Great Britain. Or maybe it's because we watched way too many Disney Princess movies when we were kids. Maybe it's just because we love watching young couples in love. Whatever the reason, we just can't get enough of the royal wedding! Prince William will marry his girlfriend of eight years, Kate Middleton, on April 29, and the whole world will be watching as the couple exchanges vows in Westminster Abbey.

It's hard not to envy the soon-to-be-princess, but we still have to concede that living the rest of her life in the public eye probably won't be all rainbows and smiles. After all, her predecessor and William's mother, the famous Princess Diana, was subject to intense media scrutiny and embroiled in a number of scandals. Some even say that the hounding from paparazzi was the root cause of her death in a car accident in 1995. Here's to hoping that Kate can escape a similar fate. Like Diana, she's a commoner - but she's a full 10 years older than the previous princess, which could help her handle the stress of joining the royal family. It's incredible to see a young woman actually living the Cinderella fantasy, which is probably why we can't tear our eyes away from coverage of the nuptials. All we know is, we can't wait to see what the bride wears on her big day - and we wish all the best to the happy couple!
