Although extreme weather patterns have mostly given
Canada a pass, just a few hundred miles below the center of our nation
lies "Tornado Alley," a section of America that's been decimated by a
series of tornadoes that have left hundreds dead, millions of dollars of
property destroyed and countless valuables, possessions and sentimental
trinkets lost - maybe forever.
But even amidst the devastation and uncertainly left in towns like Joplin, Missouri - one of the places hardest-hit by nature's fury - there remains a flicker of hope. Two couples went through with their planned nuptials in the wake of the tornado, refusing to be cowed by the destruction around them.
CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy reported on "The Early Show" Monday that the two couples exchanged vows on Saturday, to the delight of passers-by, who honked and waved at the joyous spectacle in the midst of so much despair.
Tracy spoke to high school sweethearts Aaron Cox and Brooke Watson, whose wedding venue, wedding dress and family members were all miraculously spared by the twister.
"It was meant to be!" Sarah says. " ... There were signs. That's what we decided."
